Pipeline Technician

Third Coast Infrastructure, LLC is an offshore focused midstream company headquartered in Houston, Texas. Our operations are primarily located along the Gulf Coast and deep-water producing regions in the Gulf of Mexico, with on and offshore assets including natural gas gathering and transmission pipelines, NGL and crude oil pipelines, gas processing plants, and a deep-water floating production system. Our infrastructure services some of the largest producing Gulf of Mexico Deepwater fields.

We’re seeking an experienced offshore Pipeline Technician based in St. Bernard, LA on a 4/10 schedule with daily trips to on and offshore work locations and facilities. Pipeline Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of and facilities onshore and offshore. Pipeline Technician performs a variety of operational and technical duties including preventive maintenance and repair to ensure equipment and systems (natural gas and/or oil pipelines, gathering systems, etc.,) operate efficiently in accordance with safety and service requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform maintenance and repair work on oil and/ pipelines, metering stations and related equipment.
  • Job responsibilities such as pig launching, I&E, receiving, measurement, valve actuator repairs, and equipment      maintenance (compressors, generators, water makers), depending on location or asset.
  • Meter proving for effective measurement performance and predictability.
  • Maintenance, repair, calibration and troubleshooting of electrical and pneumatic equipment and PLC-based safety systems.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair applicable flow systems, e.g., OMNI 6100.
  • Install, maintain, and calibrate dry flow chart recorders and electronic flow meters (EFMs), and run chromatograph analysis on measurement stations
  • Review gas measurement charts and volumes for accuracy; detect measurement error, correct volumes as needed and provide supporting documentation
  • Install, inspect, test, adjust, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate measurement, control, regulation, and gas quality equipment, e.g., meters, provers, flow computers.
  • Collect gas samples in compliance with partnership safety and industry guidelines
  • Monitor gas and liquid product volumes through the measurement system, ensure all corrections are applied and proper qualities are applied
  • Perform operator and technician services as directed and in accordance with specific project work plan and operating procedures.
  • Serve as first-responder to pipeline emergencies.
  • Respond to and resolve one-call tickets.
  • Review and update station isometric drawings.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety and environmental guidelines and requirements when performing job duties.

Working Conditions

  • Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and weather including heat and cold, wind and humidity with exposure to atmospheric conditions that affect the respiratory system, e.g., fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases, poor ventilation.
  • Physical activities of this position include standing or sitting for long hours, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and operation of machines; using measurement devices
  • May be exposed to a variety of conditions including weather extremes, confined spaces, loud noises, vibration, and potential hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, and exposure to high heat and chemicals.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Perform job duties in required PPE, e.g., FRCs, steel toe boots, respirator, hard hat, electrical arc flash gear.   
  • Boat or helicopter transport required to and from offshore facility.
  • Occasional travel including overnight stays as needed to other work locations and/or offices. Volume varies by work location.
  • Assigned work schedule varies by position and/or location, e.g., 14/14 rotation, 4/10s, 5/2, 9/80, and is subject to change by management
  • Must be available and fit for duty for overtime, on-call and call-out work as assigned or required.
  • Position subject to DOT Pipeline drug/alcohol testing requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Strong verbal and written and communication skills in English.
  • Technical schooling in electrical or related field preferred.
  • Pipeline experience with meter proving and pipeline pigging experience.
  • Assigned job level (I, II or III) based on skills and experience.
  • Minimum two years oil and/or gas pipeline with demonstrated knowledge of pipeline regulations.
  • I&E, measurement, or related work experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, RRC, OSHA, NEC, AGA, API and GPA requirements and procedures preferred.
  • Possess and maintain required certifications for work location, e.g., PHMSA Operator Qualification, HUET, TWIC Card.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to work cooperatively and effectively with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Flexible and adaptable team player.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt, deal with interruptions, prioritize and complete assignments under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Must be able to travel and work assigned schedule including overtime, call-out and on call.
